RAIN PAVILION
Located in a residual space, in one of the most complicated road intersections of the “Ecoducto, linear park Viaducto”, our architectural proposal is based on modifying the current space to create a small urban plaza, converting the lanes where Patricio Sanz Street begins in low speed lanes, facilitating pedestrian connectivity between the linear park and the rain pavilion.
With an exterior simple geometry architecture, that contrasts with the architecture of the environment, at first glance it is perceived as a set of slopes that invite you to get lost in its vegetation and, at the same time, becomes an open forum where you can carry out all kinds of cultural events, to talk about the ecoduct or simply remain as a place of refuge for those seeking a natural oasis within the road and urban chaos that exists along the Viaducto and the avenues that go through.
It's inside each geometric body that the ludic experience takes place, which is the essence of the project, where water ceases to be an urban resource and becomes a human resource. The compluvium of one of the designed spaces, invites us to observe and enjoy the strength and sound of water during rainy season turning the interior into a great impluvium with footprints to walk “on the water” and generate an experiential relationship. This pavilion is a place where water is much more than matter. It is history, energy, sound, reflection, strength, but above all abundance.
In the dry season, the space has the capacity to transform itself into a patio with a huge skylight that besides causing an extraordinary luminous phenomenon by the sun's rays, invites us to reflect on the importance of this liquid element in our lives and the consequences of its absence.
